What makes a group of rural teenagers and young women want to spend converse at a black owned guest house for an evening in pyjamas to converse about their talents, body insecurities, dating, self-confidence, entrepreneurship and career? It’s a loophole picked up by a rural girl named Rebecca Phala to establish a rural sisterhood hub that will birth an era of unstoppable focused content women
#THEBIGSISTERCONVERSATION took place on the Saturday evening of the 29th of October 2018 at Molepa Guest House in the Polokwane CBD.The event was graced by 10 young women from rural areas of Limpopo ranging from as Ga Mamabolo to Burgesfort. The event was equally graced by the presence of Energy FM presenter Poelano Setwaba, Maphefo Mabapa a Mandela Washington fellow and President of the I Am Heart Plus Size organization, Lucia Sete plus size model and executive producer of Turf Campus TV, ,Valentia Maleka Mrs Polokwane finalist 2018,Mildred Mahlase education student at the University Of Limpopo and Bokang an engineer.
The event saw the older and the younger sisters share good old jokes, dance to current popular songs, cried and hug each other as well as commit to be there for eachother. The big sisters each adopted two girls who they will adopt as their mentees in every area of the little sister’s lives. The event ended the next morning wherein all the ladies dressed up in printed t-shirts, black and crowns whereby the ladies took a big sister x little sister walk in the Polokwane CBD.


The event’s convener Rebecca Phala says more rural girls orientated events will follow after the success that was #THEBIGSISTERCONVERSATION sleepover.
